ASIAN AROWANA

The Asian arowana "Sclerophages formosa" is one of the most beautiful tropical fish in the world. They are found from Thailand through Malaysia and into Borneo. They range in color from a green form to golden, orange, and even red. They are also one of the most expensive fish in the world. For the golden or red forms they can cost $1000 U.S. or more for a young fish that is only 30CM long. The name arowana actually comes as the common name for the South American form of this fish. In Asia they are called "Dragon Fish", and are considered to be a lucky fish. They are sometime even used in Feng ShuI to bring good fortune to the house.
Our carvings are beautiful reproductions of this fish. Each one is carved from a single piece of hard wood and is different from every other. They are available in two sizes. The largest ones are approximately 26" to 28" long with the smaller ones being approximately 16" to 18".
